Project Description:
> Assignment 1
• Assignment due: Week 7, in class
• Mode of submission: Hardcopy
• Part One (12 marks):
o This part of the assignment involves building enterprise models in the i* notation. The intention is to devise a whole-of-government model (in this assignment, on a small scale) that can form the basis for a subsequent enterprise process/service architecture. You are required to build a model of a collection of approximately 8 interoperating government agencies/ministries/departments (the complexity could be higher, but this is the bare minimum). Within the i* Strategic Dependency models, define task/goal hierarchies that are at least 3 levels deep. It is acceptable to build models that do not necessarily reflect a specific government's structure/functionality, but is based on your common-sense understanding of these. You can however, draw ideas from the material from the government enterprise architecture projects listed below (remember, however, that an enterprise model is a small component of an enterprise architecture):
The US Federal Enterprise Architecture
UK Government Enterprise Architecture and the UK Chief Information Officer Council site
The Australian Government Information Management Office
o You can access a range of resources on the i* notation from this site.
o Deliverables: Enterprise models in the i* notation, plus as much textual documentation as you think is necessary to provide supporting explanation. You can use the OME Tool to develop your models, or your favourite graphical editor such as Visio.
o Your work will be evaluated on the basis of how comprehensive your models are (within the size bounds described above), and whether you used the notation correctly.
• Part Two (3 marks): Identify a competing enterprise modeling notation/framework to i* - what are the relative strengths and weaknesses of the two approaches. Your answer should not exceed approximately a page of text.
