An Arabic to English translator with more than 30 years experience, I am competent in most subject areas, possessing particular expertise in the areas of the law (both civil and Islamic shari'a), politics, the media, finance / accounting, commerce and development-related material. My regular clients include the United Nations Secretariat (New York City), UNESCO (Paris), IFAD (Rome), ITU (Geneva) and IMF (Washington, DC); I also work on an occasional basis for a number of UK translation agencies. Having spent the greater part of my working life in the Middle East and North Africa, I am familiar not only with Modern Standard Arabic but also with a number of Arabic dialects, particularly those of the Gulf and Levant.
