My name is Henar Chico, and I am a native Spanish speaker from Bilbao, Spain. Boise has been my home for the last 12 years (except for the two years I spent in Chicago). I moved to Boise right after I finished my degree in English Philology from the University of Deusto. Translating is a great passion of mine and has been for a number of years.
I work as a freelance translator for several agencies on a regular basis (Cervantes Translations, Pearl Linguistics or Gaido Translations, to mention a few), doing translations, proofreading or editing jobs. I have done a number of jobs for several government offices in Idaho, as well as a few private companies, such as Proclarity (now Microsoft) or Chasewood Wealth Management, for whom I translated their financial website, or Stainless Steel World/Valve World, from the Netherlands. I frequently collaborate with the translation and/or revision of the EITB.com website (Basque radio and television, in Spain). In addition, I have developed my translation skills by getting a masters in translation with Estudio Sampere (in Madrid, Spain). Please feel free to check out my project history posted on the ProZ.com website.
My standard rates are $0.06 per word for translation ($0.08 for rush jobs), and $0.03 for proofreading or editing.
As I look to the future I hope to help businesses communicate with their target audience and feel good about it, knowing that their message is coming across clearly and professionally in Spanish as well as English.
On a lighter note, I am happy to report a very welcomed second place (out of 38 entries) on the third Proz.com translation contest. It was a wonderful experience, and very rewarding.
Please feel free to get in contact with me any at time.
Sincerely,
Henar Chico
